Sustainability & Responsible Retailing

At Luella Grey, we’re committed to doing business better. Our brand was founded on the principles of slowing down fashion, prioritising thoughtful design, and delivering lasting quality, all while acting responsibly towards people and the planet.

Trust

We work exclusively with trusted, ethically audited partners who share our values, from production through to warehousing and logistics.

Our family-run logistics provider delivers with care and reliability, while our customer service team goes above and beyond to ensure every customer feels valued and supported.

Quality

Sustainability starts with quality. Our collections are crafted to last, combining timeless design with exceptional craftsmanship. Every detail, including our signature molten metal clasps, is carefully considered. Independent auditors, quality control experts, and third-party financial verification ensure we uphold the highest standards across our operations.

We also pride ourselves on our personalised customer service and our exceptional team, whose dedication helps make our independent brand best-in-class.

Passion

Our passion lies in creating beautiful, accessible, and responsibly made bags that we love and are proud to share. We never overproduce, and we value people as much as products.

As a female-founded business, we believe in a sustainable work-life balance and trust our team to work flexibly, reducing commuting and our carbon footprint.

Responsible Retailing in Practice

Sustainability is an ongoing journey. We strive to reduce our environmental impact, empower our community, and improve each year through listening, learning, and evolving.

Community

Ethical production is a cornerstone of our brand. We’ve worked closely with our factory teams for years, and all are SEDEX-audited to ensure fair and safe working conditions. Our in-house Quality Manager oversees every stage of production to maintain our standards.

In 2024, we partnered with The Marylebone Project and SMARTWORKS, supporting homeless and vulnerable women in rebuilding their lives. We’re proud to donate bags to women entering education or employment and look forward to growing our support in the years ahead.

Environment

We design with longevity in mind, creating pieces that won’t go out of style and never overproducing. Key sustainability practices include:

  • Donating unsold products to charity rather than landfilling
  • Repurposing off-cuts into purses and tassels
  • Maintaining strict quality control and donating imperfect items
  • Using PU instead of PVC, a more environmentally responsible, durable, and low-maintenance material
  • Shipping primarily by sea to reduce CO₂ emissions
  • Minimising plastic packaging across all products
